THE 2010 SEASON IS HERE … AND WE HAVE OUR OWN HOME!!!

Hello everyone and Happy New Year. I hope you and your families had a wonderful holiday season.  If you are anything like me, you are now back at work and feeling like that was a hundred years ago already!

The reason for this Newsletter is twofold:

Firstly, with Sign On looming, I felt it important to say that I am pleased that the majority of our players and families are staying with Magic United for this first exciting season at our own grounds!!  I know that it has been very challenging being a part of a Club without solid infrastructure, but in many ways that is what has made us so resilient.  The fact that against all the odds, we have survived to see the culmination of the dream so many of you have shared.

However as happens every season with every club on the Coast, I do understand that some of you will have chosen to leave for your own reasons.  To you and to your families, I say a HUGE THANK YOU from myself and the Committee, for your loyalty and unstinting support.  We have loved having you at our Club and could not have made it without you!  You will be sorely missed, but we wish you all the very best for your future at whichever club you have chosen.  And remember, nothing is forever, you know where we live now and you are always welcome back!

Secondly, we just wanted to confirm that Sign On is in just 2 weeks … yikes, where did our

so-called break go!  We have created a printed Flyer and we will also put a copy up on our website mid next week, so please check that for full details. Bottom line is:

Sign On from 9.00am - 4pm Saturday 30th and 9.00am – 1.00pm Sunday 31st January

Thank you for taking the time to read this, I look forward to seeing you all again soon,

Regards

Linda, Club Secretary

MAGIC UNITED APPOINT PAUL CHAPMAN as new Premier League Coach.
Known as Chappy by virtually the whole of the Gold Coast football fraternity the man brings to the club a wealth of playing and coaching experience.

Chappy comes to the club highly recommended and has a strong reputation and a successful track record. He has already attended the training sessions on a Sunday morning to view the many youngsters already training with the club under director of coaching Gary Scott and his impressive coaching team.

Chappy was sought afterr by several clubs and we are delighted he has chosen Magic United.

Hopefully a press release will follow shortly advising his appointment and where Magic as a club are going and what really is happening, not rumoured, discussions with a reserve grade coach are nearly commplete with an immenent announcement pending as well.

Club Update

It is with pleasure we now confirm that the club has completed all financial requirements and returns to Department of Fair Trading and have held our AGM In accordance with our constitution.

The following people were elected into positions:

President:                 Gary Thompson

Vice President:         Gavin Clout

Secretary:                  Linda Parkes

Treasurer:                 Gary Parkin

Committee:               Gary Parkes

We are looking for more members to come on board especially in the junior capacity and ask those that maybe interested to contact me with a view to moving your club forward in the best interests of the kids and volunteers.

The pictures on the web site show our new fields are under going extensive work and as of today not only are both fields finished, the full surrounding areas have been grassed as well. These will be playable for the season and based on advice will be able to commence training form virtually sign on.

Meetings to date with council have proved very beneficial with confirmation that funding for field lighting design and structure has been approved, Design to change the current building gifted to us by Nifsan into change rooms, toilets, showers and a canteen is also well under way. A meeting with Gold Coast Soccer yesterday confirms they are more than happy with our plans and they can see we are trying to ensure all is in place for the start of season 2010. Future plans for lighting of both fields and new clubhouse are also being discussed with several parties and your new committee is working hard in these areas. Several people have come forward offering assistance whether it be labour, infrastructure, materials etc and to those we say thankyou.

If you think you can help in some small way please do not hesitate to contact me to discuss. We are also working on an interim idea of a clubhouse,  and the very key to this maybe some naming right sponsorship to go on the building until full building plans are implemented, whilst we are the first to acknowledge the difficult times ahead the exposure gained from Birmingham Rd and directly opposite Emmanuel College is we believe a good investment for your dollars given the position.

This is an exciting time for the club and those that have stuck by us are hopefully about to bare the fruit of our labours. The saying goes that Rome was not built in a day and the same can be said about the club.

There are always rumours about whether magic are going to survive and each year somehow we do. I would encourage all those people that hear the rumours to simply contact us to hear what we have planned for you and the future development of your children as this is the very essence of why we have fought to remain alive.

Further regular updates will be provided to all in the form of newsletters so please register onto our website so you become a recipient.
